Christa_DanceSPA2013 Christa South is an accomplished dancer, ballroom professional and fitness instructor. She attended Western Michigan University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. There she performed famous repertory including: Gus Giordano’s “Sing” and “3 Epitaphs” with the Paul Taylor Dance Company at The Kennedy Center. Christa has also performed in Dance Chicago and her choreography has been included in student dance performances, musical theater shows and many more.

Christa began studying ballroom dance soon after graduating from WMU. Ms. South is a DVIDA certified Latin and Ballroom Dance instructor. More than a teacher, Christa competes at the professional level, in the American Rhythm style. She placed as a finalist in competitions including: Chicago Harvest Moon, Cleveland Dance Sport Challenge, Indiana Challenge, Washington Open Dance Sport Competition, Chicago Crystal Ball, Nashville Stars and many more. She has also performed in the highly respected Chicago Salsa Congress. She has trained and competed with many award winning students, and continues to travel around the country for competition.

 

 

In addition to dance, Christa is also a dedicated fitness instructor. She loves to teach Zumba® Fitness, and you can experience her class almost every day of the week! Christa hold certifications in Zumba Basics® 1 & 2, Zumbatomic® and Aqua Zumba®. In 2012, Christa was honored with a feature in Z life Magazine. She attends the annual Zumba Instructor Convention in Orlando, Florida to keep her moves fresh and current!

 

 

Believing that practice makes perfect, Christa continues to study with dance specialists, in both ballroom and fitness, to stay on top of the hottest dance moves and trends. She is highly energetic, positive and strives to inspire her students every day.
